Since 1846

Founded in 1846 by Ulysse Nardin, the brand that bears his name conveys his entrepreneurial spirit, always thinking of the next big step forward. Trained as an expert in complicated watches, Ulysse Nardin is destined for a brilliant future and starts the manufacture in his hometown, Le Locle. Over the decades, Ulysse Nardin has won over 4,300 honours in watchmaking, including 18 gold medals. However, it is in 1983 that the brand`s history becomes even more interesting. Rolf W. Schnyder then takes over the company and joins Ludwig Oechslin to form a successful collaboration.

Some of the most notable achievements include the introduction of emblematic timepieces such as the 1996 perpetual calendar watch (from the Classic collection), which makes it easy to move forward and backward in time, and the Freak model launched in 2001, which gives the time thanks to its movement not its hands. The Freak paved the way for the development of fascinating innovative mechanisms by Ulysse Nardin, while the Marine collection reflects the brand`s know-how in sailing and continues the legend.

Ulysse Nardin's other breakthroughs include the fact that it was the first watch manufacturer to use silicon-based technology and the fact that it developed revolutionary movements, such as the Dual Ulysse and Ulysse Anchor escapements, as well as the UlyChoc shock absorbers.
